TIPHER Project Hungry:  Letter to All Volunteers

A much-needed resource is underway in our community. “Project Hungry” is an ecumenical effort sponsored by The Institute for Public Health and Education Research, Inc. (TIPHER), to feed the indigent, homeless, and single parent households.

“Project Hungry has been in operation for almost two months with wonderful, dedicated volunteers who have committed hearts and time to join TIPHER in answering the Lord’s call in “loving Him and feeding His sheep”.

“Project Hungry” is based at the Westside Community Center at IH 35 & Krueger. The hearts of this program are the volunteers. Many of these good people have committed one day a month, others one day a week to feed the hungry. The goal is to serve a noon meal seven days a week. At the present time, we serve a meal Monday thru Friday from 12:30 pm to 1pm.  There is no qualifying for this program and it will serve as a point of entry to many other on-site resources/services.

We are still in need of volunteers. It takes 5-7 people per day to accomplish this goal. The age limit to work in the kitchen is 14 years old. The work is easy and the company is delightful.  Four local churches, Sts Peter and Paul Catholic Church, First Protestant, Holy Family and First Presbyterian are participating with their volunteers. We hope that more church members/groups and local organizations will get involved.

Please call “Project Hungry” at Westside Community Center, 830 629-2011, when you hear the recording choose 3.

We look forward to your participation. God Bless You!
