Well, November
24th is just around the corner. We are working diligently on
getting ready for this event. It has become an annual event for New
Braunfels and Comal County. This happening has been an ecumenical
effort since it has been associated with the Westside Community
Center. We are so fortunate here in New Braunfels to have as many
different churches willing to lend a helping hand and work together
regardless of affiliation.
The
Thanksgiving Dinner has been successful because we have so many good
people wanting to help in so many ways. We have people donating
time, donating supplies, donating food, donating money, and donating
turkeys. Everyone pitching in to help a good cause of helping those
people in New Braunfels and Comal County who are in need of food or
fellowship or just want to join us and give thanks for all the
blessings God has bestowed upon us.
I
would like to report that last year, with the help of Holy Family
Catholic Church, we were able to serve about 1,500 meals. This
includes the meals that were delivered, to go, as well as the dine
in meals. We are hoping to feed more people this year.
We
have been working hard at trying to get ready this year’s
Thanksgiving Dinner. We have been meeting since January of this
year. Every third Monday has been set as our regular meeting day.
We meet at 7:00 p.m. at the Westside Community Center. We welcome
anyone and everybody interested in helping to attend our meetings.
Our next meeting will be August 15, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. at the
Westside Community Center. On the agenda this time will be
organizing the working committees needed to have everything ready
for the big day.
I
want to take this time to thank all who have helped and contributed
in the past. This event would not be happening if it would not be
for all of you who have helped with some kind of contribution to
make it such a success. I want to express my sincere appreciation
and extend a great big thank you. If you are interested in helping
this year, please come to the meeting on August 15 at 7:00 p.m. If
you are not able to come to the meeting but would like to help,
please call me at (830) 629-0197 and please leave a message and
leave your number and I will call you back as soon as I can.
Thanksgiving is a time to give thanks to God for so many blessings
we receive from Him each and every day. Together, I know we can
serve God by serving other people. May God bless you and your
family. Thank you.
